Rep. O’Malley highlights pivotal grant awarded to Manistee
RELEASE|August 26, 2021

State Rep. Jack O’Malley today announced the city of Manistee has been awarded funding to help move the community forward with a key redevelopment project.

A total of $700,000 in Brownfield Redevelopment grant money and another $800,000 in Brownfield Redevelopment loans will go to the Manistee Gateway Redevelopment Project following approval from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy and State Administrative Board.

The funding will redevelop parts of downtown Manistee and add a welcome center, marketplace and other attractions.

“This is an exciting step in this process for Manistee,” said O’Malley, of Lake Ann. “These pivotal investments help make our communities in northern Michigan an even better place to call home. I’ll continue fighting in the Michigan House for this critical funding and look forward to seeing this project take additional steps toward the finish line.”

O’Malley is in his second term representing the 101st House District, which includes Manistee County as well as Benzie, Leelanau and Mason counties.
